Operational areas

Filters, or more precisely fluid filters, are used where solids have to be retained from a gas or liquid flow. The core of this statement alone already gives an initial idea of how wide-ranging the different areas of application of filters are.

For example, filters in the form of oil, fuel and air filters are required in motor vehicles. In industry and in the trades, activated carbon and respiratory protection filters are used to clean air and water and to protect people from hazardous substances. But filters are also used in medical technology, for example in dialyzers - and this is just a small glimpse of the variety of applications in which filters accompany us in almost all areas of life.

Filter Bonding

Equally diverse are the materials from which filters are made, depending on their use: Papers, synthetic fibers, metals, nonwoven materials, glass fibers - to name a few. Blood filters, for example, are made from compact bundles of 10,000 to 12,000 fine synthetic hollow fibers that are embedded in polycarbonate housings and sealed with a polyurethane potting compound.
Generally, various components are bonded or liquid resins are poured during the manufacture of filters. Frame material and filter medium are bonded together - in the process, tightness must be ensured. Adhesives and sealants must be processed very precisely and applied accurately to ensure an optimum connection or seal.

Filter end-cap

The filter end caps are manufactured using adhesive processes. The filter end caps are in turn bonded to the filter medium using adhesives. For this purpose, the filter cap is molded. The application of the adhesive to the filter end caps must be precisely and repeatedly metered so that the performance of the filter is not limited.

Dialysers

Dialyzers are embedded in a polycarbonate housing and precisely sealed with a polyurethane potting compound.
